More information about door canopies

Here is some more information about your door canopy, explaining some of the properties of the materials that we use to make them.

Why your door canopy has an aluminium frame

Aluminium is an excellent material for the frame of your door canopy.  This is because it is strong, resistant to rust, but also light-weight.  An aluminium frame can easily support the weight of the canopy roof without imposing a strain on the wall to which the canopy is fixed.  It can also be shaped into profiles or curves making the canopy an attractive addition to your home.

Why your door canopy frame is powder-coated

Powder-coating is the process used to paint the frame of your door canopy.  Dry powder is sprayed on to the metal whilst under an electrostatic charge.  Once sprayed, the canopy frame is cured in a heat oven.  Powder-coating gives excellent colour coverage on the frame and is available in a wide variety of colours and finishes.  The two we have chosen for our range of Door Canopies are white and a stainless steel look.  Both will ensure the door canopy looks good outside your home for many years to come.

Why your door canopy has a polycarbonate or acrylic roof

To create the roof of your canopy, we use either twin-walled polycarbonate or thick acrylic sheets, depending on model.  Both are man-made materials used extensively in buildings because of their properties – they are strong, light, easy to handle and resistant to breaking.  A door canopy with a polycarbonate roof has an opaque appearance that hides any dirt that might accumulate on it.  By contrast, a canopy with an acrylic roof is completely see-through and shows off the door way to the maximum.  Both types of canopy roof material provide great protection from the sun’s UV rays.
